Why The New York Jets Should Keep Rex Ryan

Coming into the season the New York Jets were ranked as the No.32 team in the NFL ( Behind the Jaguars). The Jets were expected to win 4 games at most .Yet Rex Ryan had the Jets in playoff contention till week 15 and the Jets have a chance to finish the season 8-8. Do not forget the fact that the Jets held the No.6 Seed in the playoffs for some time from week 9-week 11 by beating Drew Brees and Tom Brady in a span of 3 weeks.

Coaches that underachieve should be fired. Coaches that overachieve deserve another chance. Consider the fact that the Jets had a rookie quarterback starting the whole season in addition to the lack of talent on offense. Finishing 8-8 would be a remarkable feat. The defense which had regressed in 2012 asserted themselves as one of the NFL’s most dominant defense. The defense remained dominant even though had lost their best player, lockdown corner Darrelle Revis.

The players love Rex Ryan. Rex Ryan is a players coach. Need evidence that the players still fight and believe in him? Look at last week’s game against the Cleveland Browns. The Jets were eliminated from playoff contention yet the players fought for him and the end result was a 24-13 New York Jets win. Another reason why Rex Ryan should stay is the fact that he can handle the media and the pressure of coaching in New York, not everyone can do that. Rex Ryan has one more year on his contract, if it were my call I would lobby for Rex Ryan to return as the head coach of the New York Jets for one more year.

-Merry Christmas!!! To Those who do not celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays.

  1. Mike says:

    I’d say hire Bill Cowher

  2. Jim says:

    John Gruden anybody?

  3. Vincent says:

True. Rex lost his starting safeties, bell and landry , 2 starters on the Dline Devito,Pouha. Superstar cornerback and weak side linebAcker Bart Scott. Yet our defense is in the top 10. On offense we lost shonn Greene a 1000 yard rusher, and tight end Dustin Keller, his team is arguably worse than last years yet we may finish 8-8 which is already better than last years record of 6-10
